Certified Volunteer Building Directors serve as liaisons to the Department of Neighborhood and Community Services in ensuring the proper and safe use of athletic facilities. They are responsible for the supervision of players and spectators; interpreting rules and ensuring compliance; and for properly reporting all accidents and damage to Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS).
Volunteer Building Directors are appointed from participating sports organizations and receive certification training from NCS. Groups that do not provide Volunteer Building Directors during gym use are required to use NCS-provided building directors at a cost of $12.12 per hour during their organization's assigned use time.
Volunteers can become certified by watching the Volunteer Building Director Training Video and completing the online Application and Certification Test in the Facilities Application Request System. Once you are in the system, select the "Director Profile" tab.
