Fairfax County's Department of Neighborhood and Community Services launched a new webpage celebrating the accomplishments and impact of women who have provided the inspiration, leadership or vision that contributed to NCS and the community it serves.
In 1987, Congress declared March as National Women's History Month in perpetuity. A special Presidential Proclamation honoring the extraordinary achievements of American women is issued every year to commemorate and encourage the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.
The month of March provides an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments and impact of women on NCS. The new webpage is a collection of stories to help visitors learn about inspiring county leaders, facility namesakes and historical figures whose passion, leadership or vision impacted NCS's history and current mission.
NCS will continue to expand this list as part of NCS Stories - an initiative to preserve and share stories of the persons, places and events that shaped the Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services. To share additional information for potential inclusion on this page or other Stories pages, please email NCSCommunications@fairfaxcounty.gov.
