Students to Mark Day of Racial Healing Through 'Truth in Voice, Truth in Service' Event

In honor the National Day of Racial Healing, Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services invites students in grades 7 to 12 to take part in the "Truth in Voice, Truth in Service" event on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Jim Scott Community Center, 3001 Vaden Dr., Fairfax.Truth in Voice, Truth in Service

The free event is from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Activities include:

  • Day of Service Community Projects
  • Youth Dialogues
  • Lunch and Snacks
  • Live Music
  • Resource Tables
  • Transportation

Breakout sessions will be facilitated by NOVA, The Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Center and NCS’ staff. Registration is required. To register and request transportation, contact your local NCS Teen Center or Community Center.  

The event is one of several taking place countywide for the Day of Racial Healing in Fairfax County on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors proclaimed Jan. 21, 2025, as a Day of Racial Healing in Fairfax County. Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services Director Lloyd Tucker accepted the proclamation at the Supervisors’ meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025.

The Day of Racial Healing, a national effort since 2017, focuses on the commitment to promote racial healing, transform communities and build social capital.
