Summertime calls for friends, fun and...SUMMER CAMP!
Therapeutic Recreation Services offers a variety of affordable summer camp experiences for individuals (ages 2 to 22) with developmental, intellectual, physical, emotional and learning disabilities to enjoy a variety of special events, games, activities, sports, field trips, musical activities and much more!
Therapeutic Recreation Summer Camp Programs
The Pre-School Mini Camp is a structured play program for pre-school children. Children will participate in activities designed to promote learning, explore stimuli and introduce and develop new skills.
Ages: Children ages 2 to 5 years (not yet completed Kindergarten)
Dates: July 16 - 18 and July 23 - 25
Time: 8 to 11 a.m.
Fee: $30.00
Required Forms: You will be required to submit a School Entrance Health Form (completed and signed by your physician) no later than July 1, 2019. This form is available in PDF form through the online registration process for camp (see link below). Please print the form for your physician to complete it, and then submit the completed form to Therapeutic Recreation Services via mail (120111 Government Center Parkway, 10th Floor, Fairfax, VA 22035), FAX (703-653-1375), or email (NCS-Tracers@fairfaxcounty.gov).

Additional Camp Information:
Transportation
Therapeutic Recreation offers transportation to and/or from camp provided through a contract with Fairfax County Public Schools. If you choose to utilize this transportation option, the participant's summer site will be determined by TRS based on the participant's pick-up address. If you choose to provide your own transportation, you will have the ability to select the participant's summer camp location. Please see the information included in the registration for details.
Medication and Medical Procedures During Camp Hours
Summer Camp staff are trained to provide personal care support, administer medication and select medical procedures to campers. Note: a physician's authorization for each medication and/or procedure your child may need during camp hours is required prior to your child starting camp. These documents will be provided to you after a completed registration is reviewed by Therapeutic Recreation Services staff.
Enrollment
Each camper will be processed upon submission of a complete registration, partial payment and any additional required forms. A customer should receive an email confirmation with the status of the child's enrollment for each week of camp requested within 5 business days. The email will identify the site the camper is placed at and whether they are enrolled or waitlisted for the weeks requested. Please note that completion of a registration is not a confirmation that your child is enrolled. If you do not receive an email confirmation, please call Therapeutic Recreation Services at 703-324-5532, TTY 711, or check your TRACERS account to make sure all required forms were submitted.
Class Placement
Upon completion of a Summer Camp registration, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists will place each camper in a room with an appropriate staff to participant ratio based on their needs, age, safety considerations, medical needs and participant's disability as indicated in the registration.
Note: Therapeutic Recreation Services cannot provide 1:1 support for campers. Campers who require 1:1 support for success are welcome to join us with the assistance of an aide provided by the family.
