Ribbon Cut on New Lorton Community Center & Library

On Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, Fairfax County leaders joined community members to celebrate the opening of the new Lorton Community Center & Library. More than 1,400 people attended a community celebration that included a ribbon cutting, tours, family-friendly activities, food and more.

The Lorton Community Center is co-located with the Lorton Library and Lorton Park at 9520 Richmond Highway in Lorton. The project included a complete renovation of the existing 10,000-square-foot library with a new addition of 6,000 square feet and construction of a new 30,000-square-foot Community Center building. The rejuvenated campus includes a new playground, fitness area, open field area, plaza and trail loop in the adjacent park.

The community center is the new home for the Lorton Senior Center and Lorton Community Action Center (LCAC) and provides a broad array of services, programs and activities for individuals of all ages and abilities. Offerings include afterschool programs, facility rentals, fitness classes, gym sports, meeting spaces, School Age Child Care (SACC), therapeutic recreation services, camps for youth, and computer and technology instruction.

Lorton Community Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. To learn more about the Lorton Community Center and view an activity calendar, visit the NCS website.
