On June 9, 2026, the Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment for 8110 Gatehouse Road (Tax Map Parcel 49-4 ((1)) 28B), located in the Merrifield area.

The current Comprehensive Plan text for this area recommends office and warehouse use at an intensity up to 1.0 floor area ratio in Sub-Unit H5 of the Merrifield Suburban Center, Jefferson Planning District.

The Plan amendment considers the addition of residential use. This Plan amendment will be processed alongside a rezoning application for the property.

Community meetings for this study are anticipated to begin in Fall 2026 and continue into 2027.
