On June 10, 2025, the Board of Supervisors (Board) authorized the consideration of a Plan Amendment for the Tysons Urban Center to update land use recommendations for the Office Designated Land Use Category, Transportation and Parks Conceptual Plans, and associated areawide guidance.
The Tysons Office Designated Areas planning study will use community insight and staff analysis to update portions of the Comprehensive Plan for the Tysons Urban Center, which guides land use decisions. The study will review current guidance for the Tysons Office Designated Areas, which are mostly located at the MITRE campus and areas near the Capital Beltway, Dulles Toll Road, and south of Old Courthouse Road. The study is evaluating a broader mix of uses in these areas, including residential and mixed use, along with guidance for transportation, parks and open space, environment, and urban design.
