Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program Brings Joy to Hundreds of Fairfax County Families

Leidos person standing with giftsDue to generous donors, our Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program has brought joy to over 600 families in 2021. We provided gifts, toys, food, clothing, and winter items to 1,371 children.

Thank You to each and every donor for spending time and resources to make the holidays unfor-gift-able for these families.

Winter Coats Provide a Warm Hug!

three children on bridge pathway playing in snowWhen the cold winter weather blows into Fairfax County everyone needs to bundle up to stay warm. This includes the approximately 260 children in our community who are in foster care.

Thank you to Our Children Fund for wrapping a warm hug of support around foster children in our community.

Do You Know Why Mentoring Matters?

During National Mentoring Month, Volunteer & Partner Services celebrates the amazing BeFriend-A-Child mentors who meet regularly to spend time with their mentees, listen to them without judgment, and help to inspire their dreams and expand their perspectives on life. Join us in recognizing mentors!

If you or someone you know is interested in mentoring a 5-12-year-old child, please sign up or contact the BeFriend-A-Child Coordinator, Tiffani Peguese by email.

New Video: Impact a Child's Life for the Better – Join Volunteer & Partner Services

We have produced a new video sharing opportunities for community service with Volunteer & Partner Services. It highlights the ways VPS connects volunteers and donors to local families with children who are at risk of abuse or neglect. Please take a look and share this video to raise awareness of how working with the Administrative Assistant, Study Buddy Tutoring, BeFriend-A-Child Mentoring, and Body Safety education programs helps support the work of DFS staff to empower children and interrupt the cycle of neglect and abuse.
