On Aug. 29, 2023, Fairfax County Neighborhood & Community Services staff joined Braddock District Supervisor James Walkinshaw, Super Bowl Champion Malcolm Mitchell and community leaders to celebrate the opening of the new Cox Innovation Lab at Annandale Community Center. The project is a partnership of Cox Communications, The James M. Cox Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and Fairfax County.
Cox has provided a grant of $20,000 to upgrade technology equipment at the community center, which opened last spring at the Heritage Shopping Center. The donation is part of a larger $150,000 gift from the James M. Cox Foundation to create new Cox Innovation Labs across the nation, develop STEM programming and provide training for the Boys & Girls Club staff this year.
The Annandale Community Center opened on March 4, 2023. The center is located at 7861-B Heritage Drive in Annandale.
