Fairfax County leaders and community members gathered at the Fairfax County Government Center on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, to honor Black History Month at the “Unite, Uplift & Celebrate!” event.

This year’s theme was “A Century of Black History Commemorations: Promote, Protect, Preserve.”
The featured speaker was Rev. Trevor Black, Pastor of Peace Baptist Church in Dunn Loring. The invocation was given by Rev. Dr. Keith E. Donaldson Sr., Senior Pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Herndon. County leaders giving remarks included Board Chair Jeffrey McKay, Franconia District Supervisor Rodney Lusk and County Executive Bryan Hill.
The community enjoyed entertainment by saxophonist Tony Craddock, singer Nikki Joy Brown (The Culture Cup), musical group Mobile Joy, poet Bennie Herron, comedian Roxanne David (“Miss Clareese”), Lady Wolves Step Team (Westgate SACC) and Lady Panthers Cheer Team (Gum Springs Community Center).
The Board of Supervisors proclaimed February 2026 Black History Month in Fairfax County at their Feb. 3, 2026, meeting. Leadership Fairfax accepted the proclamation for the Inclusive Leadership Institute.
