Board of Supervisors Proclaim Early Childhood Educators Week in Fairfax County

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors proclaimed May 4–8, 2026 as Early Childhood Educators Week in Fairfax County. The proclamation reflects the invaluable ways in which early childhood educators provide positive learning experiences for children’s growth and development, and support families and the well-being of our community.

The proclamation was presented by Braddock Supervisor Rachna Sizemore Heizer at the 22nd Annual Fairfax Futures School Readiness Symposium at the Fairfax County Government Center on May 2, 2026. Monica Jackson, Vice Chair Fairfax County Child Care Advisory Committee and owner of Jackson Child Care accepted the proclamation on behalf of the educators in the county.

"Early childhood educators have one of the most important roles in the lives of our children, their commitment to the cognitive, social, and emotional development are critical for future successes” said NCS Deputy Director Keisha Dotson. "Not only do educators work to ensure that children have strong foundations and bright futures, but their contributions also directly contribute to the economic success in the county."

Early Childhood Educators work in roughly 2,000 programs in the county. Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services supports Early Childhood Educators through a variety of programs and resources. Among them:
