The Department of Neighborhood and Community Services offers several out-of-school time programs to keep kids and teens of all ages and abilities involved during the off-season. Activities for all ages target personal development, leadership, service, fitness and health, and STEM activities that keep kids developing in all areas of their lives. Each program offers an affordable option for parents to ensure their children remain active, have extraordinary learning and leadership opportunities, and have the opportunity to explore new interests and develop new skills.

Dates: June 17 – August 23 (Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Age: Rising 1st – 6th Graders
Locations: Bailey’s Community Center (CC), Gum Springs CC, Huntington CC, James Lee CC, Mott, CC, Pinn CC, Southgate CC, Willston CC
RECQuest provides elementary school aged kids with a variety of activities, trips, and experiences that support healthy and continued growth and development. This engaging program offers youth a place to establish healthy and supportive relationships and safely experience new and interesting programming with an emphasis on health and wellness, STEAM, arts, academics, cultural awareness, and community connections.
Date: June 17 – August 23 (Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Age: Rising 7th – 12th Graders
Locations: James Lee Community Center, Mott Community Center, Pinn Community Center, Providence Community Center, Reston Teen Center, South County Teen Center
Teens in Action provides leadership, service and recreational activities, trips and experiences for middle and high school-aged youth. This engaging program offers teens a place to establish healthy and supportive relationships and safely experience new and interesting programming.
Dates: July 1 – August 9 (Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Eligibility: Individuals ages 2 – 22 years with disabilities
Locations: Hayfield Elementary School, Lees Corner Elementary School, Cunningham Park Elementary School, Hayfield Middle School, Thoreau Middle School, Franklin Middle School
Therapeutic Recreation Services offers a variety of summer programming for school aged individuals with disabilities. All camp sites are open to individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, physical disabilities, emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and/or attention deficit disorders. Separate programs are established for preschoolers, elementary school students and middle/high school students.
Registration deadline for TR programs is Friday, May 31.
Dates: July 1 – August 1 (Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Eligibility: Rising 7th and 8th Graders
Locations: Twain Middle School, Holmes Middle School, Irving Middle School, Ormond Stone Middle School, Rachel Carson Middle School
Fees: $50 supply fee. Some field trips and activities may have related fees.
V.I.P. Camp is designed to encourage teens to develop healthy and positive recreation interests and features a wide variety of leisure activities and quality programs. This camp is sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools and the Department of Neighborhood and Community Services.
