Intro Trainings
  •  PIPF Capacity Building Grant Overview (use registration key PIPF when registering): This training describes the program's purpose, grantee responsibilities, and the invoicing process. It is mandatory for all grantee main points of contact, and highly recommended for other program managers and fiscal staff.

  • PIPF Facilitation Basics Training (use registration key PIPF when registering): Overview of basic facilitation skills necessary to implement prevention programs. This is a required course for all PIPF Capacity Building Grant program facilitators.
Program Implementation Trainings

Current Programs – Online Trainings

These online, on-demand trainings provide a brief overview of a prevention program and how to implement it.  The trainings are mandatory for Partners in Prevention Fund grantees, but are free and available to anyone in Fairfax County interested in providing the programs.

  • Healthy Relationships Plus (use registration key PIPF when registering): This program uses open dialogue and role playing to engage students ages 12-18 in enthusiastic discussions about peer pressure, help-seeking, media literacy, healthy and unhealthy peer and dating relationships, and healthy communication.

  • Making Proud Choices! (use registration key PIPF when registering): This program provides adolescents with the knowledge, confidence and skills necessary to reduce their risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), HIV and pregnancy by abstaining from sex or using condoms if they choose to have sex.

  • CATCH My Breath: This program aims to prevent the initiation of e-cigarette use (vaping) among preteens and teens. The free 30-minute on-demand training is required for all facilitators. To access the training, you must establish an account and enroll in CATCH My Breath on the CATCH website.

Current Programs – Live Trainings

  • Families Reunite: This program was developed by Fairfax County Public Schools for parents who will soon reunite, or recently have reunited, with their children in the United States. Contact your NCS liaison to schedule training.

  • Strengthening Families 10-14: This program is a family skills training program designed to increase resilience and reduce risk factors for substance abuse, depression, violence, aggression, delinquency, and school failure. Contact your NCS liaison to schedule training.

  • Healthy Youth Prevention Education (HYPE): HYPE was developed by the Fairfax County Department of Family Services to teach students, teens, and other youth about dating violence and sexual violence prevention. Training will be available in early 2022.

Legacy Programs

  • CATCH Kids Club (use registration key PIPF when registering):  Designed to be implemented as a part of an existing after-school program or camp for elementary school students, this program consists of 32 short lessons on nutrition and physical activity and hundreds of activity ideas designed to get kids moving.

  • EatPlayGrow (use registration key PIPF when registering):  This program teaches kids ages 2-5, and their parents and caregivers, about healthy eating and physical activity, and offers way to work healthy choices into daily routines.  The program is delivered over 11 7-minute sessions.
