Summer Meals for KidsCurrently, nearly 55,000 children in Fairfax County are qualified for free and reduced priced lunches during the school year (that's more than 29 percent of all Fairfax County Public School students); however, when school is not in session, these kids depend on the county's Summer Meals for Kids Programs to receive adequate nutrition during the summer break.

The need is ever-increasing, and we are in search of more community partners to enhance our capacity to reach children in need. By signing on as a participating meal location, you can make a real difference in the lives of kids in your community who need your help the most.

How Does the Program Work?

You select how much assistance you can provide! You select the meals (breakfast and/or lunch) as well as the quantity of food you have the capacity to serve at your location.

Set your own schedule! The Summer Meals for Kids program runs from June 18 to August 24. Participating sites are able to select the dates they are available to provide meal services within that timeframe.

Meals are delivered right to your door every day by the participating caterer! Depending on your selected capacity and service level, meals will be delivered to your door in hot boxes and coolers - all you need to have is trash disposal and recycling capacity. There is no fee or delivery charge to you - this is all FREE.

Your Staff/Volunteers will be trained!  Neighborhood and Community Services program staff will provide you with the training necessary to properly distribute meals and complete the required paperwork.
