On April 11, 2023 the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment for the Reston Transit Station Area (2023-III-6UP), which was initially classified as Tier 3 on the work program and included ten SSPA nominations in the Hunter Mill District, including the nomination for 1950 Roland Clarke Place. On July 25, 2023 this Plan amendment was reauthorized and moved to Tier 1 on the work program.
1950 Roland Clarke Place is a 3.5-acre parcel in Reston consisting of a singular office structure. The adopted Plan for this parcel recommends Residential Mixed Use with a 75% residential/25% nonresidential split up to an intensity of 3.55 FAR. These recommendations can be found in the Wiehle Transit Oriented Development South District of the Wiehle-Reston East TSA. The Board requests staff consider an increase in the recommended percentage of residential use to allow primarily residential uses on the property with the inclusion of a public recreation amenity.
