Internships required by a credit-bearing course of academic study with an educational institution require an agreement between the County and the educational institution. These agreements can often take time to develop and get approved. The following Universities have an agreement in place:

The Inclusive Support Services Division of Neighborhood and Community Services offers unpaid internships to undergraduate or graduate students seeking a degree in Therapeutic Recreation requiring the completion of internship hours to satisfy course credit requirements. The Inclusive Support Services Division of Neighborhood and Community Services offers unpaid internships to graduate students seeking a degree in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology requiring a FULL-TIME internship to satisfy graduation requirements. The Inclusive Support Services Division of Neighborhood and Community Services offers a semester long (scheduling is flexible up to 24 hours per week) paid internship supporting cross divisional and project focused initiatives. The internship provides the opportunity for students or recent graduates to explore career options, apply academic knowledge and skills, gain career skills, and build resumes. Assigned projects may involve research, data collection and interpretation, assisting in preparing/analyzing policies and procedures, and/or conducting public information and outreach. Duties may also include assisting staff with day-to-day operations in adult day health care, early intervention, or therapeutic recreation. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students of data science, human services, public policy, healthcare administration or other related fields. Position description available upon request. This internship may meet the requirements for a credit bearing course of academic study.
