Events

Flag Football
As the leaves turn color and the fall season arrives, so begins another exciting year for the SACC Flag Football League (SFFL). The SFFL demonstrates outstanding teamwork and sportsmanship which has made the league a tremendous success. Over the last nine years, the SFFL has created partnerships with George Mason University as well as various local high schools including W.T. Woodson, Centreville and Annandale. As the SFFL continues to grow, so will our partnerships with local area high schools and sports teams in our community.

Performance Showcase
As we transition from the exciting touchdowns in SFFL, it's time for SACC centers across the county to begin writing songs, choreographing dance routines, and singing their favorite music for the annual SACC Performance Showcase. This program provides children the opportunity to showcase their interests and talents. The school year curriculum provides the focus for each stage performance under the bright lights. Last year's performances reflected "Kids on Stage: A Global Experience" in which over 30 SACC centers and 600 children participated. This year's performances will showcase our Time Adventures. A part of the showcase is also giving back to our local community. Families contribute items to be donated to local community organizations.

Track & Field
As we move from the remarkable musical performances, we turn our attention to the track. This past spring, 40 SACC centers and 672 children participated in the 6th annual Track and Field Meet at Robert E. Lee High School. The successful partnerships SACC has built with local area high schools has enabled us to host our own event, allowing children from kindergarten through second grade to showcase their speed, agility and determination. This year's Track and Field event will include events such as Shot Put, the 50-yard dash, and the wildly popular 4x1 relay. On Your Mark, Get Set, GO!

Cardboard Boat Regatta
As the summer heat is near, it's time for SACC centers to begin planning the design of their boats for the annual Cardboard Boat Regatta. SACC has participated in this community event at Lake Accotink for 16 years. This amazing experience gives children the opportunity to design and build their own cardboard boats using duct tape, liquid nails, and of course, cardboard boxes. Themes for the Cardboard Boat Regatta have ranged from college mascots to automobiles to monuments around the world. Mariners get ready to navigate the waters of Lake Accotink.
