On June 25, 2024, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment for Fairfax Center Area Land Unit K, adjacent to the I-66 and US-50 interchange. The adopted Plan for this area recommends office use at 0.25 Floor Area Ratio (FAR) at the baseline and 0.5 FAR at the overlay level, in the Fairfax Center Area. In addition, the Plan recommends site-specific options for residential use at 16-20 dwelling units per acre.
The Board requested that staff:
- consider a planning study for Land Unit K of the Fairfax Center Area and the areas served by its sewer pump stations, and
- consider future land uses, open spaces, interparcel access, the surrounding transportation network, and supporting infrastructure.
This Plan Amendment is a Tier 1 review item and will be reviewed alongside a plan amendment for Fairfax Ridge Road (SSPA 2023-III-3FC) and a plan amendment for Fair Oaks Business Park (SSPA 2023-III-2FC).
