On January 25, 2022, the Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment Tax Map Parcel 93-1 ((1)) 98A, a 0.63-acre property on the northwest quadrant of the intersection of Richmond Highway and Groveton Street in the Franconia Supervisor District. The property is currently used as an interim park. The adopted Plan for this area recommends 70,000 gross square feet of non-residential uses in Land Unit D of the Beacon/Groveton Community Business Center within the Richmond Highway Corridor of the Area IV volume of the Comprehensive Plan. The Board requested that staff consider an amendment for an affordable, independent living facility up to 70,000 SF. Alternative ground floor community-serving uses also may be considered for the subject property. This Plan amendment is being considered concurrently with rezoning application RZPA-2022-LE-00055.
