On May 15, 2018 following the approval of Plan amendment 2013-III-DS1 (Dulles Suburban Center Study) the Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment for Land Unit J of the Dulles Suburban Center (generally located in Tax Map Grids 43-2, 43-4, 44-1, 44-2, 44-3, 44-4) in the Dulles Suburban Center Planning District, Sully Supervisor District.

The Plan amendment maintained the overall baseline intensity of .50 FAR, and added an option for residential (up to 4250 units) and retail (additional 200,000 SF) uses to be considered with the mix of uses, with conditions that address consolidation, impact mitigation, design and the flexibility to allow residential uses with conditions that proposed to mitigate the impact of airport noise.
