On January 28, 2020, the Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment for Fairfax Center, Sub-Unit J3 (pt.) (Tax Map Parcels 56-2 ((01)) 39, 37A and ((34)) C) in the Fairfax Center Area, Area III volume of the Comprehensive Plan, Braddock Supervisor District.
The adopted Plan for this area recommends office use at 0.70 FAR at the Overlay Level with an option for residential/mixed use at 1.2 FAR. The Board requested that staff consider self-storage or alternative uses that would be compatible with the vision for Fairfax Center Suburban Center and the recent developments that surround the site for the subject property. Concurrent rezoning applications (RZ/FDP/CSP 2020-BR-003) have been accepted to rezone the properties to the PDC district and to develop a new self-storage building.
