On April 12, 2022, the Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment for the Affordable Housing at the Government Center (Tax Map Parcels 56-1 ((15)) 14A and 14B) in the Braddock Supervisor District. The subject parcels comprise the Fairfax County Government Center campus. The adopted Plan for the Government Center campus may be found in the Area III volume of the Comprehensive Plan, Fairfax Center Area, Sub-unit B2 (page 47). Sub-unit B2 is planned at the base level for office and public facilities use up to 0.25 FAR. Sub-unit B2 is also planned for office mixed-use and public facilities not to exceed 0.35 FAR overall with Sub-units F and I3. The Board requested that staff consider an increase to 0.40 FAR on the subject parcels in support of affordable and workforce housing and related uses. Also authorized is the consideration of editorial changes to the recommendations for Land Unit F and Sub-Unit I3, which were historically linked with Sub-unit B2 due to property ownership. 

This Plan amendment is being considered concurrently with rezoning applications RZPA-2022-BR-00086/PCA-86-W-001-07/CDPA-86-W-001-05/PCA-86-W-001-14/RZPA 2022-BR-0092. Review the application materials in PLUS. Hearings on the rezoning applications are anticipated in early 2023.
