There are six main ways to get involved in the SSPA Process: 

1. Submit a Nomination – One of the features of SSPA is that anyone may submit a nomination. For more information on how to nominate a site or collection of sites, please review the SSPA Guide. 


2. Attend Community Meetings – Community meetings are held to review the nominations, gather feedback, and answer questions. These meetings may be held virtually or in-person. The public can attend and participate in these meetings, and there will be an opportunity for public comment at each meeting.


3. Submit a Comment – Public comments may be submitted via email or through pre-recorded video messages to DPD staff or the Planning Commission: 
   • DPD Staff: dpdsspa@fairfaxcounty.gov 
   • Planning Commission: plancom@fairfaxcounty.gov 


4. Attend and/or Provide Testimony at the Planning Commission Workshop – The Planning Commission will hold a workshop on the nominations to review and provide a recommendation on which of the nominations should advance for formal review as Plan Amendments on the Comprehensive Plan Work Program. This workshop will be open to the public, and individuals will be able to provide comments. Following the Planning Commission workshop, the Board of Supervisors will take action on the revised Work Program, which may include formal study of some of the nominations as Plan Amendments. 5. Connect with Us – Sign up to receive email updates from the Comprehensive Plan Announcements listserv or follow the Fairfax County Land Use Planning & Zoning Facebook Page for the latest information about SSPA.


6. Spread the Word – Whether you can attend a community meeting or wish to submit comment, you can share the nominations and the task force meeting information with others.
