Park and Recreation Month

Since 1985, the United States has celebrated Park and Recreation Month in July to promote building strong, vibrant and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation. NCS' recreation facilities, programs and professionals help to meet the diverse recreation needs of all those who live, work and visit Fairfax County.

Programs and Services for Kids and Teens

Neighborhood and Community Services offers a variety of out-of-school time programs to keep Fairfax County kids and teens engaged outside of school hours.

Programs and Services for Older Adults

Neighborhood and Community Services offers a variety of services for older adults, 50 years old and over, in Fairfax County.

Therapeutic Recreation Services

Opportunities for individuals of all ages with disabilities to develop skills that enable participation in recreation and leisure programs of their choice.

Athletic Services

The Athletic Services Unit works to promote access to and engagement in athletic activities for resident athletes of all ages and abilities.

NCS Camps

The Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) offers a variety of youth and teen camps during Fairfax County Public School's winter, spring and summer breaks. Programs are offered at public schools and community centers throughout Fairfax County. All programs offer reduced fees for eligible families.

School Age Child Care (SACC)

School Age Child Care (SACC) Program provides fun, safe and educational care for children in kindergarten-sixth grade before school, after school and during school breaks in public elementary schools and community centers across Fairfax County.

Virtual Center for Active Adults

The goal of the Virtual Center for Active Adults (VCAA) is to enrich the lives of older adults and adults with disabilities in Northern Virginia while combatting isolation. Here you can connect with your peers, engage in a variety of activities and discover useful resources.Join live, interactive programs and engage with other adults. You can also watch prerecorded programs on-demand on your own schedule.
