Policy Plan Amendment

On July 27, 2021, the Board of Supervisors (Board) authorized the consideration of Comprehensive Plan amendment 2021-CW-T1 (PLUS number 2021-00020) Route 7 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in the Dranesville and Providence Districts. The adopted Plan for this area recommends an Enhanced Public Transit Corridor along Route 7, on which a major public transportation facility would be implemented following additional study, from the City of Falls Church to the Tysons Urban Center. The Board requested that staff consider the preferred alternative for the BRT alignment and associated potential station locations along Route 7 between the West Falls Church Metrorail Station and the Spring Hill Metrorail Station (via International Drive), as can be found in the May 25, 2021 presentation to the Board Transportation Committee. The preferred alternative was selected following preliminary analysis of nine alignments within the Fairfax County Route 7 BRT Study, which were culled down to three final alternatives further evaluated by the county.
