On November 30, 2022, the SWMP was notified Haulin’ Trash LLC filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and would cease all business operations effective December 1, 2022.
Affected single family home residents (subscription customers) with items curbside awaiting collection will need to obtain a new service provider for collection of any set out materials or self-haul the waste to a Solid Waste Management Program drop-off location (I-95 landfill or I-66 transfer station). A list of licensed collection companies can be found below.

Chapter 109.1 of the Code of the County of Fairfax, VA requires that refuse collectors hold the appropriate permit to provide service to Fairfax County residents and businesses. This authorization is called a “Certificate to Operate.” Contracting with a company that does not have a Certificate to Operate is a violation of county code, and subject to civil penalties of up to $500 per offense. Chapter 109.1 of the County Code states that no person shall engage in the business of collecting recyclable materials in Fairfax County as a commercial enterprise without first registering their organization with the county. This provision does not prohibit any individual from collecting, processing, or transporting recyclable materials generated within their own household or commercial establishment. Companies with active CTOs need not register under this requirement.
