The Access Services Advisory Group was formed in 2005. The group is composed of customers and interested parties who provide advice and support to the Access Services branch of the Fairfax County Public Library. The Access Services branch provides library services to people who cannot read printed materials or cannot access the county libraries because of vision impairment or physical limitations.

What Does the Access Services Advisory Group Do?

• The group encourages and supports library services for individuals with disabilities.
• The group advises the Access Services staff about programs and resources from the customer’s perspective.
• The group supports and engages in outreach efforts that expand public awareness of library resources available to individuals with disabilities.
• The group supports the goals of the Access Services branch through advocacy and education.

Membership

Members of the Access Services Advisory Group share a love of reading. They exchange information on resources and assistive technology that make printed materials more accessible to those with disabilities.

The group meets quarterly with the Access Services Branch Manager and welcomes new members.
