Friends of Centreville Regional Library

Centreville Regional Library

Established in the early 1970s, the Friends of the Centreville Library have been active supporters of the Library from its inception. Since 2005, a new group of volunteers revitalized the Friends organization. The Friends maintain ongoing fund raising activities with proceeds benefiting the Centreville Regional Library and the system as a whole. The Friends have been strong advocates for the public library. As they look to the future, the Friends of the Centreville Regional Library will continue as a vital resource for the Library and its community.

Friends Choice Award Recipient

2016: Roger Klinker

2017 Paul Hamilton

The Friends support literacy initiatives, by providing incentive awards for the Summer Reading Program and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. The Friends also support computer literacy with purchases such as compact computers for technology instruction programs, and an AWE tablet for preschool children to use in the library. Additional funding from the Friends makes it possible to increase the number and variety of programs available for all ages, from puppet shows to chair yoga. Members participate in community outreach events and provide refreshments for large special library events. The Friends have contributed to the cost of purchasing additional magazine subscriptions, print books, eBooks and eAudiobooks for readers to enjoy on the go.

Book Sales

The Friends of the Centreville Regional Library hold two major book sales each year; one in the spring and one in the fall. They also have an ongoing book sale in the library and online. Community support by purchasing and donating materials, and volunteering, is essential and appreciated.

There are no membership fees for joining the Centreville Friends group. To become a Friend of the Centreville Regional Library, please come to the library at noon on Tuesdays and join the fun scanning and sorting donated books

Book Donations

The Friends accept gently used fiction and nonfiction hardback and paperback books, as well as DVDs and CDs in their original cases. Library staff can provide donors with a receipt acknowledging donations.
