The Capital
(Episodes 101-106) The Capital is Washington, DC’s origin story. It tells how choosing the home for the government of the United States almost tore the new nation apart. A French immigrant, a free African American, a Quaker, and the country’s first president came together to forge a “We the People” capital, establishing the People’s Meeting Place (the U.S. Capitol) as the centerpiece of DC and, as such, the nation.
