Opened September 29, 2007, the Oakton Community Library is certified with a Silver Rating under the Leadership Energy in Environmental Design (LEED) program. The Oakton branch serves as a community gathering place and provides an array of programs and materials for all ages. The 17,304 square-foot facility provides views of the changing seasons and local wildlife, with ample natural lighting from oversized windows and a raised clerestory. In 2008 this location was certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Habitat. Outdoor seating purchased by The Friends of Oakton Library extends the library space into the outdoors.
The Oakton collection includes books, CDs, DVDs, magazines, newspapers, and kits for book groups. The Friends of Oakton Library assist generously with their time and monetary support. Programs are offered for all ages, including preschool story times to promote early literacy, activities to motivate school-aged children to use the library, book discussion groups, and much more. Guest presenters are often hosted thanks to the generosity of our Friends group.
Come in and meet our friendly staff, who will help you enjoy all that we have to offer.
