Sherwood Regional Library, located in Alexandria near historic Mount Vernon and Gum Springs, has been serving the needs of its community since 1971. Sherwood Regional is the home of the local Mount Vernon Farmers' Market on Wednesday mornings from April into December. Our active senior customers know us as the home of Mount Vernon at Home, a membership organization that supports aging in place.

The TechLab on the second floor is open to the public where staff and volunteers provide hands-on technology classes and one-on-one computer tutoring sessions. Sherwood Regional partners with the American Association of Retired Persons to provide tax assistance. Our youngest customers (with their parents) enjoy the Read to Me room and the most studious can access private study carrels located on the main floor.

The Friends of the Sherwood Library raise money for programming and special purchases though their book sales and donations. We invite you to join our Friends and our volunteers to learn all the ways Sherwood benefits our community.

Book Sale

On the first floor, there is an ongoing book sale available all hours the branch is open. Additional sale areas are open Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., and the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This will change to the second Saturday in a month when the first Saturday is a holiday.

Tuesday - Friday: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 11a.m. – 4 p.m.

Need to digitize old photographs, slides or VHS tapes? Sherwood Regional Library is home to one of two Memory Depot stations in the library system. Our Memory Depot allows you to take these memories, save them to a flash drive, then share them with family and friends. Sign up for an orientation so you’ll get the most out of your three hour Memory Depot station!
