Unique to this library is the opportunity to offer the community a huge selection of affordable books for purchase on a daily basis.
The Friends of Sherwood is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of volunteers who enhance this branch’s services by:
- Running The Bookstore located on both the first and second floors of Sherwood Library.
- Supporting library reading and educational programs for all ages.
- Equipping and maintaining the tech lab and
- Purchasing materials large and small for the branch including furniture and supplies.
Monies raised and financial donations fund programs and activities not covered by the county budget.
The Bookstore
The Bookstore, located on the first and second floors, is a collection comprised entirely of gently used donations that includes fiction, nonfiction and a large selection of children’s books.
- Genres include history, biographies, science, nature, music, arts and crafts, cookbooks, religion, mystery, romance, classics, textbooks and more.
- Titles range from new, popular and best sellers to the unique. Books come in all shapes and sizes from hard and soft cover, mass markets and trades to coffee table books. CDs, DVDs, vinyl records and puzzles are also available.
- New donations are added to inventory daily, with special collections offered every Wednesday and on the first Saturday of each month.
The open sale areas on the first and second floors are open daily during library scheduled hours.
The “Book Rooms” are open daily as follows:
- Monday: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Tuesday: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Wednesday: 1 - 4 p.m.
- Thursday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Friday: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. - Noon*
- Sunday: 1 - 3 p.m.
* During the “First Saturday Sale” of each month, the bookstore is open 10 am to 4 pm.
Support
Your support is critically important to our success. Whether shopping our collection, donating materials, or making a financial contribution your support enhances and benefits our library.
- All contributions are tax deductible and receipts are available.
- Donations of gently used books and media items, CDs, DVDs, vinyl, puzzles and games are encouraged and accepted Monday through Saturday.
- Donating is easy. Either drop your donations in the bin by the circulation desk or for large donations ring the bell at the service entrance on the parking lot side of the library.
- We do not accept VHS, audio cassettes, encyclopedias, magazines or damaged books.
