Reston Transit Station Areas (TSAs)

The Comprehensive Plan established the Reston Transit Station Areas (TSAs) in February of 2014. It includes transit-oriented development guidance for the continued economic and physical growth of Reston while maintaining its legacy of walkability, sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity. 

Reston Comprehensive Plan Updates

On September 12, 2023, the Board adopted an amendment to the Reston Plan, along with follow-on motions. The adopted Plan builds on the 2014 Plan that established the Transit Station Areas (TSAs). The Plan includes guidance on new topics, specific to Reston, including: the application of equity elements, consistent with the One Fairfax Policy; community health strategies; workforce development and the application of workforce development strategies; and revised guidance, as appropriate, related to heritage resource and economic development.

Guidelines for Development in Reston TSAs

The "Guidelines for Development in the Reston Transit Station Areas" are intended to support the implementation of the Reston Comprehensive Plan amendment of 2014. The Guidelines provide detailed urban design and streetscape information to complement the existing Comprehensive Plan and provide guidance for development proposals in the boundaries of the three Reston Transit Station Areas (TSAs).

Reston Data Visualization

The Reston Data Visualization site monitors Plan potential and changes to land development patterns in a creative and transparent manner. This site uses an interactive interface and map applications to convey data associated with transportation, urban parks, and zoning activity in the Reston TSAs.
