Recycling Materials Accepted

The I-66 Transfer Station and I-95 Landfill Complex accept the following separated materials for recycling in the appropriately labeled collection area

  • Aluminum & Steel Cans
  • Plastic Bottles and Jugs
  • Glass Bottles
  • Mixed Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Antifreeze
  • Used Motor Oil
  • Automobile Batteries
  • Metals
  • Cooking Oil
  • Milk & Juice Cartons

Cooking Oil

Waste cooking oil is accepted every day at the I-66 Transfer Station or the I-95 Landfill Complex. Take cooking oil directly to the Household Hazardous Waste facility for recycling! DO NOT pour cooking oil into the motor oil recycling tanks. Acceptable types of cooking oils include vegetable, peanut, canola, olive, and deep fryer oils. This is NOT intended for fats and grease. Please continue to “can the grease” and dispose of it in the trash.

Electronics

Electronics such as televisions, computers, gaming systems, keyboards, speakers, cords, etc., may be dropped off during hours.

Household hazardous waste

Dispose of common household hazardous waste items such as pesticides, herbicides, oilbased paint, and products containing mercury (thermometers and fluorescent lights) during hours. Commercial Hazardous Waste is not accepted at this disposal facility.

Residential Customer Hours

Proof of Fairfax County residency may be required. Acceptable proof is a driver's license, state ID card, property tax bill or utility bill.

Trash and Recycling:

  • Mon. - Fri.: 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Sat. - Sun: 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste (Electronics and Computers):

  • Mon. - Fri.: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Sat. - Sun.: 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Donation Stations:

  • Mon. - Sun.: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Commercial Customer Disposal Hours

Vehicles of Commercial Cash Customers are weighed on the county's residential Recycling Disposal scales. Therefore, these customers should reference Residential Customer Hours for facility operating hours relevant to them.

  • Mon. - Fri.: 4:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Sat.: 4:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Sun.: Closed

I-66 Transfer Station

  • From inside the Beltway, take I-66 West to Route 50 West. Continue west and go south on West Ox Road. The complex is located at 4618 West Ox Road. This will be on the right just past the county's Fire Training Academy and before the Costco store.
  • From Route 29 go to the West Ox Road exit and turn north. The complex will be on the left at the stop light just after the Costco store.
