Elimination of Plastic Bags for Yard Waste Collection
On February 23, 2021, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted to prohibit the use of plastic bags for yard waste. Although the new rule takes effect March 1, the Solid Waste Management Program will be exercising enforcement discretion for a six-week period to allow time for customer notification and education on the new rule. Special Pick-Up Service Update
Effective July 1, 2021, free special pick-ups will be limited to 2 cubic yards of brush, bulky waste, appliances, and metal. There will be a charge to remove piles greater than 2 cubic yards. Visit Special Pick Up for service details.
