Do What You Love!

woman in wedding dress playing ukuleleSelf-care looks different for everybody. What your best friend or your sister does for their self-care may not work for you and that’s OK. If you choose an activity you enjoy, you’re more likely to stick with it, and that’s all you need to get the mental health boost self-care provides. The ideal activity should be something that is easy to do, brings you pleasure, does not take up too much time, and gets your mind off your worries. It can be anything that helps you relieve stress—you don’t even have to be good at it (think: singing off-key in the shower)! Ask yourself what you love to do. Think back to what has always given you joy. Make sure it’s something you love to do for you, not for your children, your coworkers, or your partner.
