Reston Regional Library

Reston Regional Library is closed as we await HVAC repairs. The closure is expect to continue through Monday, July 20. 

During this closure, customers should refrain from returning materials to the branch. Items can be returned to any of our 20 other locations.

  • Due dates for Reston customers have been extended through Friday, July 31 as courtesy.

Information for customers with holds at Reston Regional Library: 

  • As of today, new holds cannot be selected for pickup at Reston Regional Library.
  • If your hold is in "Held" status: The holds are currently waiting for cardholder pickup at the branch and will be extended thru Friday, July 31.
  • If your hold is in "Shipped" status: These holds have already been sent to the branch and will become available upon the branch reopening and processing.
  • If your hold is in any other status: These holds will be suspended and will be reactivated when the branch reopens and operations allow. You will not lose your place in line. Cardholders may opt to reroute these holds to another branch for pickup.

Any customers wishing to pick up their requested material at a different branch may change their designated pickup location by accessing their account.

The Reston Regional Library is located in the heart of Reston and is vital to a community that lives, works and plays in Reston. One of the busiest branches in the Fairfax County Public Library system, Reston Regional Library circulates more than 500,000 items a year and has a dynamic collection of approximately 145,000 items.

For children, there is a separate wing with everything from board books for infants to chapter books for school-age readers, as well as special programs and a full-service children's information desk.

The Reston Regional Library has a large collection of newspapers and magazines (both in print and through online databases). For new Americans, we have material to learn English and assist with citizenship applications, plus foreign magazines and a growing collection of books in Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese for children and adults. We also have over 10 English classes per week for any level of English knowledge at no cost.

Since Reston is a special planned community, the library maintains an in-depth file on the history of Reston and has indexed the Reston Times newspaper. For people who are visually impaired there is a selection of large print books and special equipment. This branch also has meeting rooms available for community groups.

Our Memory Depot allows you to take these memories, save them to a flash drive, then share them with family and friends. Sign up for an orientation so you’ll get the most out of your three hour Memory Depot station!
