Inspiration, Information for Gardeners

Green Spring Gardens is a must-visit park, a year-round gold mine of information and inspiration for the home gardener. It's an outdoor classroom, a museum, and a national historic site. Its mission is to connect the community to natural and cultural resources through horticulture, education, and stewardship.
The park has a wooded stream valley with ponds, a naturalistic native plant garden, more than 20 thematic demonstration gardens, a greenhouse, a plant shop, two gift shops, a historic house, and a horticulture reference library. The gardens and educational programs focus on practical landscaping and gardening techniques that are appropriate for the Washington metro area.
Public gardens are special parks with special rules. Please see the "Public Garden Etiquette and Rules" before your visit.
Park grounds are open dawn to dusk.

Notice

The paved trail to the ponds will be closed Aug. 16 through Sept. 6, 2021 to allow for construction of a retaining wall. Visitors can access the ponds through the Native Plant Garden gravel paths behind the Horticultural Center. ADA access is by vehicle. Exit the park at Witch Hazel Road, turn right on Braddock Road, then right again on Green Spring Road. Pause to allow the access gate to open, and park at the ADA space located at the Spring House. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
