Mount Vernon Woods Park is currently undergoing an extensive redevelopment project. In preparation for Phase 2 of the overall park renovation project, tentatively scheduled for 2025-2026, the Fairfax County Park Authority will host a virtual public meeting on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. on the design concept for the development of a new skate park.

Spohn Ranch, Inc. was selected as the contractor for the design and construction of the new skate park, and they have developed a technical proposal that includes a preliminary concept plan. During the virtual public meeting, Spohn Ranch, Inc. will present its concept plan and receive feedback from the public on skate park features and layout. Immediately following the public meeting on Sept. 26, a survey will be posted on the webpage provided above for submission of additional feedback. Comments received will be reviewed and considered for the design. A revised design plan is expected later this fall, and there will be another 30-day comment period on the revision. Construction of the skate park is anticipated to begin in fall 2025.
