Camping Rules

Park Authority employees and authorized volunteer staff have been trained and are obligated to enforce these rules and regulations. Failure to abide by these rules may also result in violators being ejected from the park immediately and prohibited from future use of park property, facilities or services.

Registration Requirements

  • Campers must be 18 years or older to register for a campsite.
  • All campers must register with park personnel, show valid photo identification, and pay the appropriate fee for their campsite(s).
  • All vehicles must have current license plate tags, registration, and inspection stickers.
  • Camper check-in begins at noon. If you arrive after office hours please check in with the campground host or visit the office in the morning.
  • Camper check-out is required by 10 a.m. on the day of departure. The campsite should be left free of all trash and personal belongings.
  • A single camping stay may not exceed 14 consecutive days during prime season and 28 days during the off season. All campers must vacate a campsite for a minimum period of four consecutive days between camping stays.

Campers Responsibilities

  • Visitors to the campground must leave the park by 10 p.m.
  • Campers must observe quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • Campers under 18 years of age must be supervised by an adult.
  • Pets may not be left unattended in the campground.
  • Alcoholic beverages of any kind are prohibited.
  • Campers are responsible for maintaining campsites in clean, safe, and orderly condition. All trash must be bagged and placed in designated location.
  • Only registered campers may use the camping facilities, i.e.: restrooms, dumping stations.

Campsites

  • Campground use is restricted to recreational, non-residential accommodations only.
  • Organized group camping is permitted only in designated areas.
  • All motorized vehicles and trailers must be parked in designated parking areas only.
  • Tent/R.V. and Group Flex campsites are limited to two vehicles per site. Designated parking areas may be used for additional vehicles as needed for Group Flex camping.
  • Off-road and All-terrain vehicle operations are prohibited. Service or commercial vehicles and construction equipment are also prohibited.
  • Camping or sleeping in the cab or bed of a truck, in an automobile, or on the ground without a tent is prohibited.
  • Tent/RV campsites are limited to six campers per site per night.
  • Flexible Group campsites can accommodate up to 18 people. Multiple Flexible Group sites can be purchased to accommodate larger groups.
  • Large group camping sites at Lake Fairfax Park can accommodate 50 or 100 campers depending on the site.
  • Use of campground dumping stations is included in the fee for registered campers. Dumping sewage or dishwater onto the ground is prohibited.

Campfires

  • Federal law prohibits the transportation of firewood and FCPA bans customers bringing firewood into our parks. Cutting of trees and/or collecting of downed trees or tree limbs is a violation of Park Policy and is prohibited for campfires. Only wood purchased at FCPA camp stores is permitted to be used and/or stored on FCPA property.
  • Campfires are prohibited between 12 a.m. – 4 p.m. from February 1 through April 30.
  • Campfires are permitted only within existing steel fire rings. Grills are for charcoal use only.
  • Campfires must not be left unattended. Fires must be extinguished before retiring for the night and/or departing the campsite.
