Cathy Ponton King has been a Washington area favorite singer/songwriter with her blues and rock and roll band playing the great venues of DC and beyond. She plays her own original music and Blues and sweet ballads. Cathy has four CDs of original blues and features great guests such as Ronnie Earl on guitar, and Jimmy Thackery on guitar, and the late bassist Butch Warren who played with Thelonious Monk and Miles Davis.
She has sung with the great bluesman Albert King, and befriended Muddy Waters, and Willie Dixon, among others in her constant touring in the‘90’s. Her music is streamed daily to over 25 countries on Spotify and many other streaming platforms.
She sang with Stephen Stills in the house band at President Clinton's Inaugural, and with Max Weinberg the drummer for the Bruce Springsteen band at a club in Bethesda Maryland. She has sung with Muddy Waters band when they toured after his passing and has remained true and authentic for any blues concert.
Her vocals and Telecaster guitar carry the band with soul and love and heartfelt original songs, Chicago Blues, sweet ballads, rock and roll and swing dancing songs. Her band always includes great musicians including guitar master Andy Rutherford who also lives in Vienna Va. and many notable musicians in the DC area. They have played Blues Alley, the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, Bethesda Blues and Jazz Theater, the Strathmore Center for the Arts, and the Wolf Trap Blues festival.
