Parktakes Funds

Class Scholarship Fund

Our class program is self-sustaining, funded entirely through participation fees. Scholarships are given to residents of Fairfax County who meet eligibility guidelines. With Class Scholarships, we can do more to assure that everyone – especially every child – has access to healthful and enriching recreation.

Open Space Land Preservation Fund

Open space is disappearing. Fairfax County residents can do something about it.

The Board of Supervisors established the Open Space Land Preservation Fund in 2001 to give residents a way to take direct, personal action to conserve the county’s shrinking open space. Contributors gain the satisfaction of knowing that they are helping to guarantee a legacy of open space and parks in Fairfax County for future generations to appreciate and enjoy. The Open Space Land Preservation Fund works to protect environmental quality in Fairfax County.

Through the fund, undeveloped land is acquired to be preserved as public parks. Priority is given to properties that provide trail connections, conserve plant and animal habitat and protect valuable watersheds.

The Fairfax County Park Foundation supports the Fairfax County Park Authority by raising private funds, obtaining grants and creating partnerships that supplement tax dollars to meet our community's needs for park land, facilities and services.
