Lake Accotink Open Picnic Areas

Gather with friends and family to celebrate cultural holidays, baby showers, birthdays, reunions… or just to have a picnic! Enjoy food that you bring, which may include something to put on the grill, and make sure you bring plenty of water and other beverages for your guests. (No alcohol.) Make your set-up and clean-up easier by bringing a hand-cart and willing helpers to transport your supplies from your vehicle to the picnic spot and back again. Consider making room for other families by sharing picnic areas and grills, especially on days of high visitation. Be considerate of others by containing trash so it does not blow into other picnic areas or remain on the ground. Continue the fun of a piñata game by having the children race to collect all the candy wrappers and trash into a container.  Everyone has a pleasant picnic experience when everyone acts responsibly.

Lake Accotink Park has five non-reservable picnic table groupings located in the open picnic area. Shaded by tall trees, each table grouping is intended for use by a family or group of 25 people or less. Each consists of 4 to 6 wooden picnic tables and a grill. Each grouping is denoted by a sign labeled A, B, C, D or E.  In addition, the park has four reservable open-air picnic areas and three covered shelters, all of which can be reserved with advance planning through the Park Authority Picnic Office. A sand volleyball court, basketball court, and open play area are available for casual use. Amplified sound is not allowed without a permit stipulating that the Park Authority has granted permission for amplified sound.
