Seasonal Position Descriptions

Position Title: Patriot Park North, Manager on Duty (MOD)
Location: 5425 Willow Springs School Road, Fairfax VA 22030 
Hours: Core Hours: Friday 5:00-11:00pm, Saturday 7:00am-11:00pm, Sunday 7:00am -11:00pm. Occasional Hours: Monday - Thursday 5:00-11:00pm
Salary: Starting at $15.40, depending on experience. – No benefits

Overview: Act as onsite staff during FCPA diamond sports tournaments. 

Duties Include:     

  • Ensures the safe and effective operation of the park. Early shift opens the administrative side of the park, preparing it for Tournament Organizers. Closing shift closes and secures the park at the end of each day.
  • Works with Site maintenance staff, providing communication and feedback with Tournament organizers.
  • Ensures Park is well maintained and kept in safe conditions.
  • May perform routine maintenance and custodial tasks to include sanitizing high touch surface areas, emp-tying trash cans, and cleaning restrooms and other areas.
  • Provides excellent customer service, greets Tournament Organizers, assists customers in resolving issues or concerns.
  • Performs administrative work as needed.
  • Takes initiative to increase one's knowledge of the park operations, its facilities, programs, services, and resources.
  • Serves as the primary contact point for Tournament Organizers. Provides verbal and written information and directions relating to the facility.
  • Stays up to date on Park Authority Rules and Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures, state and county laws, and other pertinent guidance.
  • Note’s safety/security and maintenance concerns, addresses them where feasible, and reports to supervisor using appropriate methods and recordkeeping.
  • Responds on behalf of the Park Authority to potential and actual emergency situations occurring on site while on duty.
  • Completes special projects and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Agree to a Criminal Background Check (fingerprint) 
  • Have or willing to obtain CPR and first aid certification.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. 
  • Be able to lift up to 25 pounds and perform general maintenance and custodial work. 
  • Must be personable, punctual, dependable, and self-motivated.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Supervisory experience. 
  • Extensive customer service experience. 
  • Experience dealing effectively with emergencies and other difficult situations.

Position Title: Administrative Assistant III
Overview: The Fairfax County Park Authority is hiring an enthusiastic, responsible, friendly, communicator dedicated to providing outstanding customer service.  
Location: Herrity Building, 12055 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA.
Hours: up to 30 hours per week between 8am – 4:30pm
Salary: Positions start up to $21.75 to $29 hourly

Duties Include: Under general supervision of the section supervisor, the financial management section of the Fairfax County Park Authority, performs a variety of substantial clerical, accounting, contract and analytical duties in maintaining basic accounting and financial records. This may include, but are not limited to, vendor payments, initiating and managing encumbrances, reconciliation of financial records and assist with contract activities for the agency.

Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to a high school graduation and two years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s). 

Preferred Qualifications: Must have excellent customer service, communication skills and be detailed orientated. Work independently or in a team environment. 

Note: Two positions are available 

  • Part-time benefits eligible are scheduled to work a minimum 1,040 hours and no more than a maximum 1,560 in a calendar year. This position is eligible to receive limited benefits, including medical, vision and dental insurance coverage, flexible spending program and deferred compensation.

Position Title:  Management Analyst I
Location:  Herrity Building
Hours: 30 hrs/week, not to exceed 1560 hrs per calendar year

Overview: 
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented POS Help Desk Support Specialist to join the Business Office.  The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for point-of-sale technical      issues, providing end user support to agency-wide system users, including resolving help desk tickets, troubleshooting system issues, and providing instruction on application usage.  This role requires a professional who excels at managing a wide array of tasks simultaneously, with strong organizational skills to ensure efficient and timely resolution of support requests. Under the supervision of the Business Analyst III, this position will also participate in systems testing and be responsible for developing and maintaining training resources for staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ticket and Task Management: Efficiently manage and prioritize a high volume of incoming support requests through our ticketing system, ensuring all issues are logged, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • End User Support: Provide technical support for a range of issues.
  • Training: Develop and maintain training materials and job aids. This includes creating user guides, video tutorials and managing catalog of training resources.  
  • System Testing: Actively participate in testing and evaluating system upgrades. This includes executing test plans, documenting results, and providing feedback to ensure implementations are stable and reliable. 
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation of all support activities and system issues to facilitate knowledge sharing. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with POS team members to escalate and resolve complex technical issues and contribute to projects as needed.  

Employment Standards:


BRIDGE CLASS EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level. This class can serve as a bridge class enabling individuals who do not meet the educational or professional experience standards listed above to qualify for this class by possessing four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level. The purpose of this bridge class is to promote upward mobility within the Fairfax County workforce.  However, persons qualifying for this class on the basis of their technical experience may not substitute this technical experience for education, or for professional experience, in order to qualify for other employment opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of recreational and golf management systems.
  • Knowledge of administrative office procedures and minimum of one year of experience providing administrative support.
  • Experience with help desk support and/or end user training.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite software, to include Excel and SharePoint.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple incoming support requests, strong organizational and multitasking abilities with analytical mindset to problem-solving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with all levels of management, vendors, and customers.
  • Proficient in typing.
  • Proven ability to work independently, or in a team environment; must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a friendly, service-oriented and professional manner with internal and external stakeholders.  

Necessary Special Requirements: 

  • The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.  
  • The position is responsible for attending staff meetings and completing County trainings periodically.  
  • The candidate may be required to travel across Fairfax County with training materials and equipment.

Individuals in an E-Status position are eligible for limited employee benefits, including medical, vision and dental insurance, and participation in flexible spending programs but are not eligible to earn leave or receive holiday pay.
