Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation or G.E.D, plus two years of related experience in a high-volume recreation center, aquatic facility and/or recreational park.
Preferred Qualifications: Post-high school work in aquatics, recreation, park management, or physical fitness. Two years working in an aquatic or fitness facility; one year of pool management; two years of pool operational work involving lifeguard training and supervision; supervising aquatic instructors; working with pool filtration systems and pool chemistry; recruiting pool staff and providing lifeguard and aquatic instruction. Use of Microsoft Office, Fairfax County FOCUS System and RecDynamics software. Possession of Fairfax County Pool Operator Permit and Ellis Lifeguard Instructor License.
Special Requirements: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer. Driver’s license required. Must possess the following certifications: Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR. Within 30 days of hire, must obtain Fairfax County Pool Operator Permit and International Lifeguard Training License. Within 180 days of hire must obtain Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Instructor License and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate.
Special Note: Work hours vary and will include opening and closing shifts that will include a balance of weekday, weekend, and holiday schedules, Manager on Duty shifts, Pool Service, and administrative hours. Must perform Lifeguard Chair Duty as required. Overview: Under supervision of the site manager, the person in this position is responsible for overseeing the op-eration of the Providence Rec Center. The Rec Center includes fitness center, swimming pool, rooms to host clas-ses, rentals, etc. Duties include supervision of all building staff, customer service, responding to emergencies, cash handling, knowledge of Park Authority computer system and light maintenance.
