John T. Frey,
Clerk of the Court
Notice: Due to social distancing protocols, beginning April 15, 2020, the Public Service Division counters will be closed to the public. Financing statements can be mailed to the Public Service Division or dropped off at the Fairfax County Court’s Information Desk. Your document will be recorded and a copy of the financing statement, along with your receipt, will be returned to you by mail. Please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope with your recording. Do not include cash with your recording.
Financing statements are filed in the Public Service Division of the Fairfax Circuit Court. Only fixture filings involving real estate are filed with the Court; therefore, all financing statements must provide a description of the real estate to which it relates. As of July 1, 2000, financing statements that do not involve real estate are filed with the State Corporation Commission.
Due to social distancing protocols, financing statements are only accepted through the mail. The cost to file a financing statement is $20.00. Business checks, certified checks or money orders are accepted. Please make checks payable to the Clerk of the Court. Please do not send cash through the mail. The Clerk's Office is not responsible for the loss of any cash payment by mail. Please include your telephone number on your check or money order.
