Batting Cage Rules

Park Authority employees and authorized volunteer staff have been trained and are obligated to enforce these rules and regulations. Failure to abide by these rules may also result in violators being ejected from the park immediately and prohibited from future use of park property, facilities or services.

  1. All patrons must pay the appropriate fee.
  2. To reduce the possibility of injury from stray balls, patrons must not cross the warning line at the end of a batting station at any time.
  3. Batters MUST wear helmets with face mask protection at all times.
  4. If machines are pitching out of the strike zone immediately alert the attendant.
  5. Only one person in the batting cages at a time during play. No coaches allowed in cage during game play.
  6. No switch hitting during game.
  7. Batters must wear shoes. (No Baseball-Softball Cleats)
  8. No person under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol is permitted to use the batting cages.
  9. Report all accidents immediately.
  10. These pitching machines throw both balls and strikes. Players should “Be Alert” at all times.
  11. Do not stand on home plate and do not cross Yellow Line.
  12. Watch for balls rolling under feet.
  13. No one under the age of 16 is allowed to use cages throwing the effective speed of 70 - 75 Mph.
  14. An adult must accompany all batting cage players under the age of 10.
  15. No one under the age of 6 years old is permitted to use the batting cages.
  16. Close gates at all times when entering or exiting the cages.
  17. No practice swings outside of cages.
  18. During or after the game, do not pick up balls from ground. Do not throw balls back at pitching machines.
  19. No pets of any kind are permitted in the batting cage.
  20. In the event of an electrical storm, the batting cage must be vacated immediately.
  21. Profanity and abusive language or behavior is prohibited.
  22. Conduct that may endanger the welfare of any person is prohibited.
  23. Patrons assume the risk of any injury resulting from use of the batting cage.
  24. The Fairfax County Park Authority assumes no responsibility for personal property
  25. The Batting cages are to be used in a manner providing for the safety and enjoyment of all. Failure to abide by these rules may result in violators being ejected from the park.
