Scholarships

Fairfax County offers discounts on classes and Rec-PAC camps to eligible public assistance recipients. Each eligible recipient has access to one discounted class per quarter, and/or registration to Rec-PAC for the summer.

Please note: You can begin to apply for scholarships for Rec-PAC 2024 starting on January 1. Applications submitted before then for this program will not be accepted. 

Who Qualifies?

Parents/Guardians are eligible to register each dependent family member that receives public assistance for one coded class per quarter or meet the co-pay requirement for the Rec-PAC summer program. A verification letter from the agency providing assistance must be provided and include eligibility dates and the name of the dependent who will receive the scholarship.

Senior Adults and Adults with Disabilities

A scholarship of one class per quarter is offered for senior adults and adults with disabilities who certify that their income is below the guidelines listed. For each additional person, add $5,800 to determine maximum annual income for eligibility.

  • $28,300/family of three
  • $34,100/family of four
  • $39,900/family of five
  • $45,700/family of six

To apply:

Submit the online verification form below or complete a registration form and include a copy of your verification by mail or fax (scholarship requests cannot be processed over the phone). Submission of your verification does not automatically enroll you in a program. Once your request has been approved, you will receive notification that you may then register. Once registration begins, customers may sign up online, over the phone, by fax, mail, or in person. 

*Keep original copies of eligibility and only send copies. We will not send your verification proof back to you.*

Processing Fee

There is a $15 processing fee for each scholarship class that is refundable only if Fairfax County cancels the program. Scholarships are NOT eligible for the $8 registration discount.

No scholarships are offered for camps, workshops, Day Trips and Tours, programs offered by private vendors, FallProof, Gravity or Pilates lessons. Supply fees must be paid by student.

Scholarship FAQs

Before the start of a coded class, Parents/Guardians may register dependent family members who receive public assistance for one coded class per quarter.  This request can be done online, fax, mail, or in person. (submission of the request does not guarantee registration in a class) 

Senior Adults or Adults with disabilities who certify that their income is below the listed guidelines are eligible for one class per quarter. 

Fairfax County residents who meet the stated requirements are eligible to take one coded class per quarter.

Once you are approved for a scholarship, you pay a $15 non-refundable processing fee per approved scholarship and any additional class supply fees as applicable.   

This can be done by registering online, by fax, mail, or in person. Registration forms cannot be accepted by email or by the online verification form  

Classes that are not eligible for scholarship will remain full price in the cart (Pilates Allegro, Fallproof) or a vendor class. Class titles may have “by vendor” in the name. 

No, only one scholarship can be used per person per quarter. 

Three months from the first day of the quarterly registration. Quarterly registration start dates can be found in the current magazine or on the current session’s registration form. You can find the expiration date of each quarterly scholarship under the “Your Passes” section of “Your Account” on the Parktakes Online website. 

No. Once you are approved for a scholarship, the fee for the class is waived. You will pay a $15 processing fee to process your scholarship request. 

No, Seniors still pay the $15 processing fee. 

Availability is based on current class participants at time of registration. You can be added to the waitlist for eligible classes. 

FCPA will post a full credit for the processing fee to your account when FCPA cancels a class or program in its entirety. If a class or program is changed by FCPA and the change makes it impossible for the customer to continue with the class, FCPA will issue a full refund of the processing fee. For all other requests, the processing fee is non-refundable.   

You can call (703)222-4664, Monday – Friday, 9am-4pm for transfer options before the second class meets. The class that you are transferring to must meet scholarship registration criteria and have available space. 

No, the Scholarship passes have no cost, the $15 processing fee is applied when you sign up for the class.
