Golf Course Bunker Improvement Projects

Golf Fairfax is investing in bunker improvements that will enhance course conditions and the golfer experience. This fall, select bunkers at Greendale Golf Course and Burke Lake Golf Center will be rebuilt using the Better Billy Bunker® construction system.

The courses will remain open throughout construction. Work will be completed in phases to minimize disruption. Golfers may encounter temporary bunker closures, equipment in active work areas and occasional routing adjustments.

Greendale Golf Course Bunker Project

Project Dates: September 9 – October 27, 2026

Course Impacts

Two holes will be closed: Hole #6 and one additional rolling hole closure where bunker work is being performed
Course remains open and playable throughout construction

Golfer Discount
Receive 20% off 18-hole green fees only during the bunker project (includes the existing 10% Creek Restoration discount plus an additional 10% bunker project discount).

Burke Lake Golf Center Bunker Project

Project Dates: October 19 – November 16, 2026

Course Impacts

Rolling one-hole work zones Monday–Saturday
Course remains open and playable throughout construction

Golfer Discount
Receive 10% off regular greens fees through the completion of the bunker project.

What to Expect During Construction

While work is underway, golfers may notice:

Bunkers temporarily closed.
Equipment and contractor presence in work zones. Including excavators, gravel trucks, polymer spraying equipment, etc.
Periodic construction noise.
Sand deliveries and brief access restrictions for safety.
Temporary fencing, exposed gravel and other visible work areas

Most bunkers will take several days to approximately one week to complete, depending on weather and site conditions.
