Thank You!

****We are no longer accepting applications for the Fall 2023 Extension Master Gardener Training class. You are now placed on the Interest List for the training program that will begin in September 2024. In early spring of 2024, you will receive an invitation to attend an informational session about becoming an Extension Master Gardener at Green Spring Gardens. Please RSVP at that time. In the meantime, join us at Green Spring Gardens for our many adult education programs on gardening and our own “Talks with Master Gardeners". You can view our programs at Green Spring Gardens, Master Gardeners Program.

Thank you for your interest in the Green Spring Extension Master Gardener training program. Master Gardeners are volunteer educators trained to advise the public on best gardening practices using university-based information. We are not involved in creating and maintaining new gardens. Our 13-week training program takes place each fall beginning in September. Trainees cannot miss more than two classes, so you should be willing to clear your calendar if accepted into the program. Once classes are completed, trainees graduate to the status of "Intern" and start an intern program in which they must accrue 50 hours of volunteer service over a two-year period. Once an Intern becomes a Certified Master Gardener, 20 hours of volunteer service and 8 hours of continuing education classes are required every year thereafter to remain certified.
